Calendula

In spite of having night temperatures in the 20's and one inch of snow recently here is Callie's namesake flower blooming in my garden. Calendula is technically an annual, but this one has hung on since last spring. The photo is a little blurry because of the 30-40 mile an hour winds, and tonight the temperature is going back into the 20's after a high of 76 degrees on Wednesday. Hope our sweet flower can hang on during this roller coaster ride!

We picked Callie's name because of the color of the flower and because Calendula is a healing herb. In the language of flowers it means joy, affection and the healing of grief. Callie certainly has helped us recover from the loss of our beloved Saffron, and brings us joy and love every day.
