Mexico!

Besides the welcome sun and warmth, the Pacific coast of Mexico is a visual feast of bright colors. It was once in a lifetime week in Paradise that went by all too soon.

Here are just a few impressions:
flying over the Sierra Madre mountains, dinner at the Fajita Republic in Romantica (BEST fajitas ever - flambéed with pineapple tequila), hotel lobby in Romantica, bananas growing, Mexican Folklore Troupe dancers; door, house and church window in Bucarias; street and sidewalk in El Centro, sculpture on the Malecon, sunset over the Bay of Banderas. Thank you to our gracious host and delightful traveling partners.

My husband is interested in the Day of the Dead so I brought him a Huichol skull. The Huichol are descendants of the Aztec and the skull is made from clay covered with wax. Each one of the chaquira beads is applied one by one and depicts symbolic imagery from their culture. I am still in awe of their craftsmen and transported this most carefully in my carry on bag.

  1. Wonderful collection of images and how great that you get to plug in the temps, the sounds, the aromas, etc...making it all the more terrific.
My favorite is the pebbles embedded into the pavement...and the skull is stellar.

    Welcome home!
