This past weekend I went to an Herb Society of America meetingin Greensboro, NC and one of our side trips was to visit the potters in Seagrove. There are 100 potters in this town, so we didn't get to see them all. Our first stop was to visit Ben Owen. He was a most gracious host and threw, seemingly effortlessly, some large pots for us as a demonstration. Of course if you've been doing this for 30 years you can make it look easy. Our next stop was at Jugtown, which just happened to have a picnic table for an outdoor lunch. Then on to Westmore Pottery, the Blue moon Gallery, the North Carolina Pottery Center, and Wyndham and Brooke Haven Pottery. All unique in their own way. Seagrove definitely warrants a much longer visit!
This sounds like a perfect little jaunt. I love the vines surrounding the log cabin museum and can imagine how beautiful a summer visit would be, having a picnic under the Wisteria...or is it Jasmine?
ReplyDeleteQuite the impressive demo.
