On Sunday, September 21st, people around the globe celebrated PEACE on the International Day of Peace. We came together to request "May Peace Prevail on Earth." We hung this banner, made from recycled project scraps, from our deck to show our support and hopefully spark some conversatons. The cynics amoung you would say this is a silly idea to spend a day meditating, praying, and talking about universal peace. This wire report from the Associated Press says differently:
UN: 'Guns fall silent' in Afghanistan on Peace Day

"KABUL, Afghanistan - The U.N. said that "guns fell silent" across much of Afghanistan on Sunday, as the world body hailed a largely successful international peace day that saw pledges from the U.S., NATO, the Afghan government and the Taliban to halt attacks.
The U.N. said tens of thousands of international troops, Afghan soldiers and Taliban militants "all stood down from offensive military operations in support of the biggest International Peace Day effort that Afghanistan has known."
Most government officials around the country reported no violence, and several even credited Peace Day efforts."
If it can work in one country on one day, why can't we extend Peace Day to encompass many more days in many more countries?
