I don't know why, since we live along the Chesapeake Bay, but everytime we go out of town we stay on or near salt water...
The Eastern Shore of Virginia has a new advertising campaign call "You'll Love Our Nature!" And I do, perhaps because it is still unspoiled - unlike Virginia Beach which has built on most of their beautiful natural resources.
Perhaps scenes above are why there is such a peaceful feeling on the Eastern Shore. Nature has been left alone to be natural. It most certainly refreshes the soul. Even the city fathers in Boston, MA knew almost two hundred years ago that humans needed green space and peace and quiet in order to maintain their sanity in a busy city. Frederick Law Olmstead designed a series of parks that connect together to form the "Emerald Necklace" so city dwellers could still be one with nature.
Fortunately those who make the decisions on the Eastern Shore want to preserve the nature they have - not have to rebuild it later. Please don't lose sight of that thought!
I still believe people would be kinder, less angry, and feel more connected with each other if they could only be in natural beauty instead of wall to wall buildings.
