Christmas in Wilmington, NC

We decided to treat ourselves to a festive holiday getaway at The Verandas B&B in Wilmington, NC. So, we packed up the little car with our stockings, gifts, and "Rosie" the 2 ft tall rosemary tree and off we went to spend 3 days in Wilmington. Our hosts, Chuck and Dennis, were so delightful and the house is amazing. They bought it as a burned out shell and have transformed it into the most warm, and welcoming space to escape to. And the breakfasts are a culinary work of art, too.
Thankfully our hosts were happy to have us stay another 3 days when the winter snowstorm kept us "snowed out" of Virginia Beach. Even though it snowed all day in Wilmington the day after Christmas, it didn't stick to the ground. BUT, the roads going back north were in much worse shape as both North Carolina and Virginia dealt with anywhere from 12-20" of snow. Wilmington is a fun city to explore and very pedestrian friendly (so we could walk off breakfast) and the rest of the guests (from new Jersey, Ohio, North Carolina and England)at The Vernandas made our stay that much more enjoyable. It was a very Merry Christmas!
