The last leg or our trip was to Wilmington, North Carolina to visit meg Shelton's Herb Farm across the Cape Fear River. Two more flats of plants followed me home for my new garden.
Then back to downtown for lunch at the Front Street Brewery and the all important stop at the "Key Fence." There is a chain link fence around a big hole in the ground on Front Street where a building used to stand. I don't know how it became an art project, but the key fence is quite literally covered in keys. We had brought the keys to our old house to add to the fence as a rite of closure. Unfortunately, the picture of our keys came out blurry, perhaps symbolic of a place and time fading into memory so new memories can be created.
